Standing amidst a lush natural park is a robot much larger than any woman! This is the "Robot Soldier" from the immensely popular Studio Ghibli film "Laputa: Castle in the Sky."

In Mitaka,Tokyo, there is a dedicated Studio Ghibli animation museum called the "Ghibli Museum, Mitaka," nestled in a nature-rich park a bit away from the city. Let's take a peek into what kind of Ghibli world unfolds in this museum!


At the reception, Totoro warmly welcomes visitors

As you stroll through the Mitaka no Mori along Kichijoji Street, you'll see a building with a gentle appearance.


At the reception, one of the beloved characters from Studio Ghibli's popular films, "Totoro," greets you! It's incredibly adorable to see "Makkurokurosuke"(a dust bunny) peeking out from the hole below.

Totoro and Makkurokurosuke are characters from "My Neighbor Totoro," an animated feature film set in Japan in the early 1950s. The film depicts Satsuki and Mei, sisters of the Kusakabe family who have moved to the countryside, and their interaction with Totoro, a mysterious creature said to be able to see them only when they are children. "My Neighbor Totoro" is considered a highly famous film, known to virtually every Japanese person.

While it's said that you can only meet Totoro during childhood, rest assured that you can easily encounter him as an adult at the Ghibli Museum, Mitaka!

Visits to the museum are by appointment only. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of visitors, advance ticket purchases are required. However, it's not a timed-entry system, so once inside, you can fully enjoy it at your own pace!

"Laputa: Castle in the Sky" is Studio Ghibli's first animated film, based on the flying island "Laputa kingdom" from Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels." It follows the adventure of a young apprentice mechanic, Pazu, working in a mining town, and a mysterious flying stone, along with the girl Sheeta who descends from the sky.
