Let's explore the world's first ramen food amusement park, faithfully recreating the Showa-era downtown atmosphere!

Slip back in time to the Showa era! Fully recreated nostalgic streetscape awaits.

Located in the bustling metropolis of Shin-Yokohama, the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is divided into three floors: the ground floor and two basement levels, with the lower levels housing various ramen shops. Descending to the second basement floor, visitors are greeted by the streetscape of 1958, known as the "Ramen and Sunset Town" area.

In this area, you'll find shops representing the era such as movie theaters, public baths, and tobacco shops! From telephone booths and posters to rusted street lamps and TV antennas, everything is faithfully reproduced, making you feel like you've slipped back in time.

The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is also popular as an Instagram-worthy spot, and even younger generations who aren't familiar with the Showa-era streetscape can fully enjoy the facility.

Famous shops gather! Enjoy ramen casually as you stroll around.

Orders for ramen are made through a system where customers purchase meal tickets before entering any of the shops.

To cater to various preferences, the "Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum" offers "mini ramen" in smaller sizes, perfect for those undecided on which ramen to try. Additionally, the museum is progressing with multilingual support in English, Chinese (Traditional and simplified Chinese characters), Korean, and Thai, ensuring that even those not proficient in Japanese can enjoy their ramen experience. The availability of vegan and pork-free options adds to the appeal.

Furthermore, in celebration of its 30th anniversary, the museum has revived past ramen shops, including some on a limited-time basis, so be sure to check the official website before visiting!

The birth of the "Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum" was driven by the revitalization of the emerging business district of Shin-Yokohama. Mr. Hiroshi Iwaoka, the director who grew up in this area, envisioned transforming Shin-Yokohama into a vibrant city beyond weekdays.

Combining his love for ramen with the desire to create a fun spot attracting people even on weekends led to the concept of the museum, allowing visitors to enjoy ramen from all over Japan without boarding a plane. Despite initial opposition and challenging negotiations with potential tenants due to the unprecedented nature of the facility, supportive staff and ramen shops gradually emerged, leading to its opening on March 6, 1994.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, the beloved "Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum," revered as a mecca for ramen enthusiasts, has welcomed a total of 29 million visitors.

As weekends tend to be busy, visiting on weekdays is recommended.
